Detailed information

Asa’s powerful diuretic inhibits sodium and chlorine reabsorption in the proximal loop, approximately 10 times more powerful, with longer diuretic action and greater potassium savings than furosemide.

Indications:
Diuretic. Treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, pulmonary congestion, ascites, kidney or liver disease, and non-inflammatory fluid accumulation. Indicated for the treatment of abnormalities in fluid volume and electrolyte composition. Reduction of peripheral or pulmonary edema caused by heart, vascular or kidney diseases.

Dosage:
The recommended dose of torasemide is 0.1 to 0.6 mg per kg of body weight, once a day. Most dogs are stabilized at a toresamide dose equal to or less than 0.3 mg per kg of body weight, once daily. That is, 1 tablet every 20 kg per day. The dose should be adjusted to maintain the dog’s comfort with attention to the state of kidney function and electrolyte level. If the level of diuresis requires modification, the dose can be increased or decreased, within the dose range, in increments of 0.1 mg / kg of body weight. Once the signs of congestive heart failure have been controlled and the dog is stable, if long-term diuretic treatment with this drug is required, the lowest effective dose should be continued. A frequent examination of the dog will facilitate the establishment of an appropriate diuretic dose. The daily administration schedule can be programmed, to control the period of urination according to need. Indicative dose.

The criterion of the treating Veterinarian must be followed.

Recommendation: Patients should drink adequate amounts of water to avoid marked dehydration. The doses and warnings suggested in all cases are for the consideration of the acting veterinarian.

Contraindications: Do not use in cases of anuria, severe dehydration, hypovolemia, hypersensitivity to torasemide or to any of the excipients. Do not use concomitantly with other loop diuretics. Use in pregnant and lactating females is not recommended. Contact the vet if clinical signs of fluid and electrolyte imbalance occur, manifestations such as excessive thirst, lethargy, restlessness, increased urination, abnormal
gastrointestinal and rapid heart rate.

Storage: Do not store at temperatures above 30ºC, keep out of direct sunlight, keeping in a dry and hygienic place. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Dispose of the container at the nearest collection site.
