Anticonvulsant, sedative for dogs and cats.
Phenobarbital Sodium specifically depresses motor centers of the cerebral cortex. Has the broadest spectrum of activity against the convulsant different patterns and is one of the most potent anticonvulsant available, it is also less toxic.

Sodium phenobarbital …………………… 100.0 mg

Indications / Uses:
Symptomatic and prophylactic control of convulsive epilepsy contractions used for maintenance treatment. General sedative for nervous dogs by clamping. Gastric sedative.
Administration and dosage:
Oral administration.
It is recommended for long-term maintenance a dose of 2.0 to 6.0 mg/kg divided into two daily doses in dogs.
In cats a dose of 4.0 mg/kg every 12 hours can be used. Vigilance is required in drug concentration 3 weeks from the start of treatment and 2 weeks after changing the dosage.
Contraindications / Precautions:
When it is administered as maintenance and will change to phenobarbital from diazepam, the change should be done cautiously and gradually due to possible potentiation of both drugs.
